How to burn/encode a DVD faster?

I have the Black Swan movie torrent downloaded and i am trying to encode the DVD before i burn it but it is running SO slow.Its took 3 hours to get to 50% and then my laptop went into hibernation and shut the program off. So now i have to start all over Is there a program I can download to make it faster?
