Can you keep a rabbit indoors?

My mum and I are thinking about getting a rabbit for my birthday. The only problem is that we have no gr in our garden, just decking and pavement slabs. I was wondering if you could keep a rabbit indoors? Also, if you could keep a rabbit indoors, how could it get exercise? Could i just let it hop around the house? I have no idea. Please help :)
